Senior Camp 2010Senior Camp once again enjoyed an action packed week at the Wingate Centre. The first challenge of the week was for each team to create their own mascot, so on Saturday night we welcomed the birth of Orange Cat, Yellow Chick, The Blue Robot and Graham the Tortoise; all of which joined in the team adventures for the rest of the week as each team fought fiercely to be the winning team! The teams spent Sunday going 'round Chester aiming to get as many photos as possible, which included things such as serving a meal to a member of public and dancing the YMCA! The following day we headed for Rhyl where the rain failed to spoil our day at the beach and sea-life centre. We were joined on Wednesday by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham for our circus skills day. Everyone, including the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress had great fun trying to learn how to use the diabolo, spinning plates and lots of other circus tricks, all of which culminated in an entertaining show at the end of the day. The water fight on the canoes at sailing was rivalled by the surprise water fight at the centre the following day, with volunteers and children all getting completely soaked by the end of both activities! The end of the week saw our neon party, with everyone wearing their bright glow in the dark t-shirts which we made earlier in the week as we danced the night away! Saturday came all too soon and as the Dynamite Orange team were crowned the winning team, and a tired but happy group of amazing children and volunteers made their way back to Birmingham full of stories and brilliant memories |
