Breakfree 2 Camp 2009As everyone gathered together with eagerness, we had to contend with the first of the week’s tests, how to get 12 children 17 volunteers plus all their luggage from cars to coach without getting soaked in the typical British summer? The answer, you don’t, you wait in cars and under umbrellas for as long as possible and then just run for it. For Breakfree 2 first paint brushes and rollers were banned for the art session, and the result was a hilarious mixture of water fight and paint throwing, we all had great fun. Dasiy took great delight is using the water squirter to get as many people as she could. Kay made it her own personal mission that nobody would leave the session with some paint of them. The end result was a lot of empty paint bottles, children covered in paint, and a very colourful piece of artwork. Of course we did some of the usual activities that everybody always enjoys, including swimming, a cinema evening and a photo treasure hunt around the grounds where I promise it was absolutely fair with no cheating or rule bending at all! A day at the farm provided all sorts of opportunities, feeding the animals, a little flutter on the sheep racing, and a chance for Waleed to show all the bus drivers how it should be done. With a break from tradition, our meal out actually happened in the centre and with a little help from the friendly Nantwich take-aways the Wingate dinning room became an all you can eat buffet for the evening. During the week there was plenty of time for chilling and relaxing, plenty of time for running around and laughing with friends and plenty if time for making new friends. Over all Breakfree 2 was undoubtedly one of the best Breakfree Camps we have had for a very long time. All the volunteers were truly amazing and all of the children had a fantastic week with smiles for start to finish. |
